The United States government has announced rewards totalling up to $50 million for information leading to the arrest or conviction of three senior leaders of the Venezuelan criminal group Tren de Aragua.
The rewards, announced on November 5 by the US Department of State, are part of efforts to disrupt the organisation’s operations and bring its top officials to justice.
The offers are being issued through the Transnational Organized Crime Rewards Program in coordination with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Department of Justice.
The largest reward, of up to $20 million, has been placed on Yohan José Romero, also known as “Yohan Petrica”. The amount was increased from the previous offer of $4 million.
A reward of up to $15 million is also being offered for information on Giovanni Vicente Mosquera Serrano, known as “Giovanni” or “El Viejo”. His previous reward offer stood at $5 million.
The third offer, also worth up to $15 million, targets Juan Gabriel Rivas Núñez, who is known by the alias “Juancho”. The reward is the first announced for information leading to his arrest or conviction.
According to US court documents, Romero is the current leader of Tren de Aragua and is accused of directing the group’s activities, including drug trafficking, illegal gold mining in Venezuela and murders.
Mosquera Serrano and Rivas Núñez are identified as his second-in-command, with each overseeing different areas of the organisation’s operations.
Mosquera Serrano is accused of managing the group’s activities in the United States, Colombia and Central America, while Rivas Núñez is said to oversee operations in Venezuela.
Mosquera Serrano is also listed among the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives. US authorities accuse him of directing several violent activities involving robbery, extortion and kidnapping.
The reward announcement follows a superseding indictment filed on July 29, 2026, at the US District Court for the Southern District of Texas. The three men were charged with conspiracy to provide, providing and attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organisation.
Mosquera Serrano faces additional charges related to international cocaine distribution and conspiracy to distribute cocaine.
Tren de Aragua was designated a Foreign Terrorist Organization by the Trump administration in 2025. The US government has since increased efforts to target its leadership and disrupt its criminal networks.
The State Department said the rewards were authorised by the Assistant Secretary for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs under a programme designed to support law enforcement operations against transnational criminal groups.
Members of the public with information about the three suspects have been urged to contact the FBI through phone, text message, WhatsApp or Telegram on +1-281-787-9939.
People outside the United States can also share information through their nearest US embassy or consulate, while those within the country may contact their local FBI office.
