Police officers in Shauri Moyo, Nairobi County, have arrested a suspect found in possession of three mobile phones believed to have been stolen, as security agencies continue efforts to curb phone theft.

According to the National Police Service (NPS), officers from Shauri Moyo Police Station made the arrest after discovering the three phones in the suspect’s possession.

The suspect was subsequently detained at the station as police prepared to present him in court.

Authorities have not disclosed the identity of the suspect or provided details on where the mobile phones were allegedly stolen. It was also not immediately clear whether the phones had been linked to specific theft reports or whether any additional arrests were expected in connection with the incident.

The recovery comes amid ongoing police operations targeting individuals and networks suspected of involvement in mobile phone theft in Nairobi and other parts of the country.

Mobile phone theft remains a concern for residents, particularly in busy urban areas where phones can be snatched from pedestrians or stolen in crowded public spaces. Stolen devices may also be resold, making it important for investigators to establish their ownership and trace those involved in the theft and resale.

The latest arrest is part of broader efforts by law enforcement officers to disrupt suspected criminal networks and recover property reported missing by members of the public.

The National Police Service has urged Kenyans to support these efforts by providing timely information that could assist officers in identifying suspects, locating stolen property and investigating criminal activities.

Members of the public have been encouraged to report suspicious activities at their nearest police station or through the available police communication channels.

The service listed the national emergency numbers 999 and 911 for reporting incidents requiring urgent police assistance.

The public can also share information through the Directorate of Criminal Investigations’ (DCI) **#FichuaKwaDCI** hotline on 0800 722 203 or via WhatsApp on 0709 570 000.

Police have repeatedly called for cooperation between communities and law enforcement agencies, saying information from members of the public can help investigators respond to crime and identify those suspected of participating in criminal networks.

The suspect in the Shauri Moyo case remains in police custody pending arraignment.
