Christian faithfuls and Kenyans at large have been called upon to extend their generosity to the less fortunate as they celebrate the Easter holiday. This appeal was made by Reverend John Karisa Ngamba of the Anglican Church of Kenya, Holy Trinity Majaoni Parish. He emphasized the importance of sharing with those in need, particularly during these challenging economic times. Reverend Ngamba highlighted that the true essence of Easter is reflected in acts of love and compassion, urging citizens to care for the destitute.
In his Easter message, Reverend Ngamba noted that many Kenyans have been experiencing hardships since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. He stressed that it is crucial to support one another, especially during the Easter season, which symbolizes hope and renewal. "The only way we can show love to the poor is by reaching out to them with what we have, especially in this Easter season," he stated.
The reverend also urged Kenyans to adhere to government directives aimed at curbing the spread of COVID-19. He expressed optimism that by following these guidelines, the nation would overcome the challenges posed by the pandemic. "Though the economy is so harsh, I am sure once we adhere to the set directives by the government, we shall soon defeat these challenges," Ngamba added.
Reverend Ngamba further emphasized that the pandemic should not be a source of division among Kenyans. Instead, it should serve as an opportunity for unity and collective action in helping one another. He called on citizens to use this time to strengthen community bonds and support those who are struggling.
The clergyman delivered his message during a media briefing at Shanzu in Mombasa County on Sunday. His call to action resonates with the broader Christian teachings of compassion and charity, especially during a time when many are facing unprecedented difficulties.
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on Kenya's economy, leading to job losses and increased poverty levels. As the country continues to navigate these challenges, Reverend Ngamba's message serves as a timely reminder of the power of community and the importance of looking out for one another. By sharing resources and extending kindness, Kenyans can embody the spirit of Easter and work towards a more equitable society.
