A second female body has been recovered from the rubble of the collapsed building in Eastleigh, Nairobi, as the multi-agency search-and-rescue operation continues, with four survivors having so far been pulled out alive.

The National Police Service confirmed the recovery on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, as emergency responders continued clearing the debris in search of people who may still be trapped beneath the collapsed structure.

The latest recovery brings the number of bodies retrieved from the site to two, while rescue teams remain on the ground working to establish whether more people are still buried under the rubble.

The operation involves a multi-agency team comprising police officers, emergency responders and specialised rescue personnel, who are using heavy machinery and other equipment to clear the site.

In a statement, the National Police Service expressed condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, while wishing those injured a quick and full recovery.

The police have also urged members of the public to keep away from the affected site to allow emergency responders sufficient space to operate and enable the safe movement of specialised equipment.

The recovery comes amid continued efforts to account for people who were reported missing following the building collapse.

In an earlier update, the number of people reported missing had reduced to 11 after four individuals who had initially been listed as unaccounted for were reunited with their families.

Rescue efforts have also been intensified, with additional excavators deployed to speed up the clearance of debris and support teams searching through the remains of the building.

The operation has presented challenges for emergency personnel, who must carefully navigate unstable sections of the collapsed structure while attempting to reach areas where people could still be trapped.

Families and relatives of those reported missing have continued waiting for updates as the search progresses.

Authorities have maintained that the operation will continue, with the National Police Service pledging its support to the multi-agency response.

Police have reiterated that keeping members of the public away from the scene is critical to ensuring the safety of rescue personnel and allowing the operation to proceed without interference.

Further updates are expected as the search-and-rescue mission progresses.

So far, four people have been rescued alive, while two female bodies have been recovered from the collapsed building.
