Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has reaffirmed Kenya’s support for peace efforts in Sudan, calling for an end to the fighting that has displaced families and disrupted lives for more than three years.
Mudavadi said the continued conflict, including fighting in the Kordofan region, had worsened the humanitarian crisis, with women and children among those bearing the heaviest burden and added that Kenya was backing an inclusive, Sudanese-led dialogue as the country seeks a lasting solution to the conflict.
Mudavadi made the remarks during the Ministerial Meeting on Joint Efforts for De-escalation and Supporting Inter-Sudanese Dialogue, where he called for accountability, reconciliation and national healing.
He recognised the efforts of the Quintet, the Quad and other international partners working to end the conflict and said Kenya would continue supporting credible initiatives aimed at bringing the Sudanese people closer to peace, adding that stability in Sudan was important for the wider region and Africa.
The war has caused widespread displacement and suffering, with continued fighting raising concerns over the humanitarian situation and regional stability.
