Jubilee Party has appointed a three-member committee to spearhead opposition coalition-building efforts ahead of the 2027 General Election, with a mandate to review the draft Ukombozi Alliance agreement and explore cooperation with like-minded political parties.
In a statement dated Wednesday, October 28, 2026, the party said its National Executive Committee (NEC), chaired by party leader and presidential candidate Fred Matiang’i, adopted the resolutions during a meeting held on Tuesday, October 27.
The committee will be chaired by Senator Kembi Gitura, with National Secretary General Moitalel Ole Kenta and Janet Ong’era serving as members.
According to the resolutions, the team will review the draft Deed of Agreement for The Ukombozi Alliance (TUA) and propose amendments where necessary. It will also engage other opposition parties to explore avenues for cooperation and develop proposals aimed at strengthening unity ahead of the elections.
The committee is expected to submit its recommendations to the NEC for consideration and further direction, leaving the party’s leadership to determine the next steps following the consultations.
Jubilee said the initiative reflects its commitment to dialogue, cooperation and the pursuit of a common agenda for the country’s transformation.
The party also reaffirmed its membership in the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance, describing unity among opposition parties as important in preparations for the 2027 General Election.
The committee’s appointment places coalition negotiations and the proposed Ukombozi Alliance agreement at the centre of Jubilee’s latest political resolutions. However, the statement does not announce a concluded coalition agreement or confirm the terms of any future electoral partnership.
In separate resolutions, the NEC approved the appointment of Lucy Naisiae Kashu as Interim Chairperson of the Party Women’s Caucus and Madina Yunis Mahat as Interim Deputy National Organising Secretary. The two officials will serve in an acting capacity to fill vacant party positions.
The party also extended a goodwill message to learners sitting the 2026 examinations, wishing candidates success in the ongoing assessments.
The examinations listed in the statement include KILEA, KIPLEA, KIPSEA, KJSEA and the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
The committee’s recommendations and the subsequent decisions by the NEC will shape Jubilee’s next steps in coalition-building as parties continue preparing for the 2027 General Election.
