Harambee Stars have suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Guinea in their second Group D match of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Serhou Guirassy scored the decisive goal in the 32nd minute, giving Guinea all three points in front of their home fans at the Stade du 28 Septembre in Conakry.
Kenya, coached by Benni McCarthy, went into the match seeking its first win of the qualifying campaign after being held to a 1-1 draw by Eritrea in their opening fixture at Nyayo Stadium.
Guinea had also started the campaign with a defeat, going down 2-1 to South Africa, making Thursday's encounter important for both sides.
Harambee Stars struggled to find a way back into the match after Guirassy's opener, as Guinea held firm to secure victory.
Despite the defeat, Kenya have already secured their place at the 2027 AFCON finals as one of the tournament's co-hosts alongside Uganda and Tanzania.
The qualifiers are therefore also providing McCarthy with an opportunity to assess his squad and prepare the team for the continental tournament.
The result gives Guinea its first points of the campaign, while Kenya remain on one point from their opening two matches.
