Elvis Rupia is targeting a second Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League Golden Boot after returning to Kenya Police FC, with the striker hoping to reproduce the record-breaking scoring form that made him the league’s top scorer in the 2022/23 season.
The 31-year-old forward has set his sights on individual honours alongside helping the Law Enforcers challenge for the league title, following his return from three seasons in Tanzania with Singida Fountain Gate, later known as Singida Black Stars.
Rupia previously established himself as one of the most prolific forwards in Kenyan football during his first spell at Police, scoring 27 league goals to claim the 2022/23 Golden Boot.
The achievement saw him surpass the previous top-flight scoring mark of 26 goals, set by Gor Mahia’s Maurice Ochieng in 1976, ending a 47-year wait for a player to better the tally.
According to his November 3 interview with The Star, Rupia wants to help Police compete for the championship while pushing himself into contention for another Golden Boot. He also believes the squad has the quality to challenge for major honours but will need greater consistency to achieve its ambitions.
His return to Kenyan football comes after a spell in Tanzania, where he gained experience in domestic and continental competitions. The forward featured for Singida Fountain Gate and its successor, Singida Black Stars, after leaving Police in September 2023.
That experience is expected to strengthen Police’s attacking options as the club seeks to re-establish itself among the leading sides in the country.
Rupia has already provided an important contribution since rejoining the Law Enforcers, scoring the decisive goal in their 1-0 victory over Ulinzi Stars in the Forces Derby at Police Sacco Stadium.
His 23rd-minute strike secured Police their first league victory of the 2026/27 campaign, ending a difficult opening run that had included a draw against Migori Youth and a 2-1 defeat to AFC Leopards.
The result offered the club some relief as it seeks to improve its position in the league standings, with Rupia’s finishing providing a timely reminder of the attacking threat he brings to the side.
Police will need more consistent performances from their forward line as they pursue their domestic ambitions, with Rupia expected to play a central role in their campaign.
The striker’s previous achievements also provide a clear benchmark for his second spell at the club. His 27-goal campaign in 2022/23 remains one of the most remarkable individual scoring performances in the competition’s history.
Before establishing himself at Police, Rupia featured for several Kenyan clubs, including Nakuru AllStars, Muhoroni Youth, Nzoia Sugar and AFC Leopards. He also had an earlier stint with Zambia’s Power Dynamos.
He has additionally represented Harambee Stars, scoring on his international debut in a friendly against South Sudan in March 2021.
With his return to familiar surroundings, Rupia now faces the challenge of translating his experience into goals as Kenya Police pursue another successful domestic campaign. A second Golden Boot would further cement his place among the league’s most accomplished attacking players.
