Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) has opened a new branch in Isiolo, taking its national network to 94 outlets as the lender moves towards a target of 100 branches by the end of 2026. The new facility was commissioned on November 2, 2026, to bring banking services closer to households, traders and businesses operating in northern Kenya.

The Isiolo branch is located along Banking Street in the town's central business district. Its opening forms part of a wider expansion programme through which the bank intends to establish six additional branches in different parts of the country before the end of the year.

DTB Kenya Managing Director Murali Natarajan said the expansion would strengthen financial inclusion by improving access to banking services for individuals and enterprises outside the country's main commercial centres. He said the bank recognises the economic potential of northern Kenya and intends to support businesses and communities in the region.

The Isiolo outlet will provide retail, small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) and digital banking services. Its location is strategically positioned along the A2 highway and the Lamu Port-South Sudan-Ethiopia Transport (LAPSSET) Corridor, which connects northern Kenya with other parts of the country and neighbouring markets.

The region's economy is supported by livestock and agricultural trade, transport, logistics, tourism and cross-border commercial activity. Improved access to financial services can help businesses manage payments, access credit and conduct transactions without travelling long distances to larger towns.

DTB's expansion also reflects competition among lenders to grow their physical networks while increasing the use of digital banking services. Branches remain important for customers and businesses requiring in-person assistance, account services and access to specialised financial products.

Following the Isiolo opening, the bank plans to establish six more branches in Homa Bay, Kawangware, Ruiru, Redhill, Runda and Parklands. The additional outlets will take its network to the targeted 100 branches if the rollout is completed as planned.

The expansion is expected to increase DTB's reach among retail customers and businesses in both urban and regional markets. The bank will also be seeking to grow deposits, lending and transaction volumes as it establishes a presence in the new locations.

The remaining openings will be closely watched as the lender works towards its year-end target. The pace of the rollout will determine whether DTB achieves its planned expansion to 100 branches before the close of 2026.
