His death came hours after Tenerife had reported a deterioration in his neurological condition, raising concerns about his recovery following the medical emergency during the match.
De Miguel was rushed to hospital after collapsing following a heavy collision with Owono in the closing stages of the encounter at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López Stadium.
The incident occurred as the Tenerife forward contested a ball with the Andorra goalkeeper, who came out to challenge him. The impact left De Miguel unconscious on the pitch, prompting players from both sides to immediately call for medical assistance.
Medical personnel rushed onto the field and attended to the player before he was carried away on a stretcher and transferred to an ambulance for emergency treatment.
He suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest but regained his pulse following cardiopulmonary resuscitation performed by medical personnel inside the ambulance.
He was subsequently admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de Candelaria in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where he remained in critical condition.
Tenerife had initially reported that the player was stable despite the seriousness of his condition before announcing that his neurological state had worsened in the early hours of Tuesday.
The club later confirmed his death, expressing profound grief over the loss of the forward and extending its condolences to his family, relatives and supporters.
“Racked with pain, with a lump in our throats and unable to believe that this is true, from CD Tenerife we communicate the tragic passing, this Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 8:00 a.m., of Jesús de Miguel Alameda,” the club stated.
Tenerife added that there were no words to ease the pain of his death, saying it stood alongside his devastated family, loved ones and the wider club community.
The family also thanked those who had sent messages of support and requested privacy as they mourned his death.
Meanwhile, the incident brought Monday’s match to an abrupt end, with the referee suspending the encounter in the 108th minute to allow medical personnel to attend to the injured player.
The match had been tied at 2-2 when the emergency occurred. Owono was subsequently shown a red card following the collision.
