Police officers from Obama Police Station have seized 187 kilograms of cannabis sativa, commonly known as bhang, with an estimated street value of Sh5.6 million in Ruai, Nairobi.
The seizure followed a routine foot patrol within the station’s jurisdiction, during which officers intercepted two 17-year-old Ugandan nationals.
A search conducted on the two juveniles reportedly led to the discovery of cannabis sativa, resulting in their arrest.
During interrogation, the suspects allegedly led officers to a house in Ruai, where a subsequent search uncovered the larger consignment of narcotics.
A 33-year-old woman, identified as Susan Omondi, was arrested at the premises and taken into police custody alongside the two juveniles.
The three suspects are being held pending arraignment in court, while the recovered narcotics have been secured as exhibits.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) says it remains committed to disrupting drug trafficking networks, dismantling illicit supply chains and protecting communities from the effects of narcotics.
