Two people, including an 11-year-old child, have died after a wall collapsed onto a neighbouring house in Kambodia, Mikindani, within Jomvu Constituency, Mombasa County.
The incident happened overnight, leaving a 42-year-old man, Ignitious Kidero Lenjo and 11-year-old Elia Kidero dead.
A third occupant, 21-year-old Samson Kidero, was injured and is receiving treatment at Mikindani Hospital.
According to a police report, the wall belonged to Cevas Logistic Company and fell onto the adjacent building, which is believed to have been occupied by a family tasked with guarding a nearby church.
Officers from Mikindani Police Station, together with detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Jomvu, responded to the scene.
With the help of members of the public,the teams managed to rescue the victims who had been trapped under the rubble
The bodies of the deceased were moved to the Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary, where they await postmortem examinations.
Police have secured the scene as investigations continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the collapse.
