The Technical University of Kenya (TU-K) has announced the resumption of academic activities following the conclusion of the industrial action by university staff unions.

In a notice to students, the university said lectures and other academic activities would resume on Monday, November 2, 2026, at 7:00 a.m., bringing an end to the disruption caused by the strike.

The industrial action, involving the Universities Academic Staff Union (UASU), the Kenya Universities Staff Union (KUSU) and the Kenya Union of Domestic, Hotels, Educational Institutions, Hospitals and Allied Workers (KUDHEIHA), was called off on Friday, October 30, 2026.

Students have been directed to report to their respective departments and attend lectures according to the scheduled programmes as the institution returns to normal operations.

The university has also indicated that adjustments will be made to the academic calendar to accommodate the time lost during the industrial action.

According to the notice, the Senate-approved revised 2026/2027 Academic Calendar will be made available through the university’s official website and other communication platforms.

The revised schedule is expected to guide students and teaching staff on the remaining academic activities, including the timelines for completing the semester and preparing for upcoming examinations.

Meanwhile, students with outstanding fee balances have been urged to settle their dues and complete the required registration procedures.

The administration has emphasised that affected students must also sign the nominal roll to ensure their participation in academic activities and upcoming examinations.

The requirement comes as the university prepares to resume normal teaching and learning, with students expected to ensure their academic records and registration details are up to date.

The notice further advises students who may require clarification on the resumption arrangements to contact the university administration through its official academic communication channels.

Inquiries can be directed to the institution through the email address info.academic@tukenya.ac.ke.

The resumption announcement follows days of uncertainty for students whose academic programmes had been affected by the industrial action.

With lectures now scheduled to continue, attention is expected to shift to the revised academic calendar and the arrangements for completing the affected semester.

The university has urged students to follow its official communication platforms for further updates and guidance on the revised academic schedule.
