Six people have died and five others sustained serious injuries after a lorry overturned at Enengetia along the Narok-Nakuru Highway in Narok County on Monday, November 2, morning.
The accident involved an Isuzu FRR lorry travelling from Nakuru towards Narok, which reportedly lost control, veered off the road and crashed into a guardrail before overturning.
According to Narok County Police Commander Patrick Lobolia, the driver, a 35-year-old man, lost control of the vehicle upon reaching the Enengetia area, causing it to veer off the highway and crash into a guardrail on the left side of the road.
The impact killed the driver and five passengers at the scene. The identities of the five passengers who died have not yet been established.
Five other passengers sustained serious injuries in the crash and were rushed to Mau Narok Health Centre for medical treatment.
The bodies of the six deceased victims were moved to Egerton Hospital mortuary in Nakuru County, where they are awaiting post-mortem examinations.
The crash occurred near Enengetia Centre, along the highway connecting Nakuru and Narok counties. The lorry was heading towards Narok when the driver reportedly lost control, resulting in the vehicle leaving the road and overturning.
The incident left all six fatalities at the scene, while the five injured passengers required medical attention following the crash. The victims' identities and the extent of their injuries had not been detailed in the initial police statement.
The location of the accident, near Enengetia Centre, is along a key transport route used by motorists travelling between Nakuru and Narok. The lorry's journey from Nakuru towards Narok placed it on the section of the highway where the crash occurred.
