President William Ruto has renewed his accusations that former President Uhuru Kenyatta is sponsoring the opposition and undermining his administration, as political alignments take shape ahead of the 2027 General Election.
In a strongly worded address, Ruto accused his predecessor of organizing demonstrations and working against the government over the past four years.
“For the last four years you sabotaged this administration,” Ruto said.
“You organized demos. You are sponsoring the opposition. That is a game of nothing. Stop the sabotage,” he added.
Ruto further accused Kenyatta of lowering the dignity of his former office and his personal standing.
“You have lowered the dignity of your office and yourself,” he said.
The President concluded by emphasizing that national interests should take precedence over individual political ambitions.
“The country is bigger than any individual including you,” Ruto said.
Ruto and Kenyatta have previously exchanged accusations over political interference and the role of former leaders in opposition politics.
Ruto’s latest remarks come as parties and political figures position themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.
