Police in Isinya, Kajiado County, have made significant progress in their efforts to combat theft and recover stolen property following a recent operation that uncovered government stores, copper wire, and a variety of other items linked to an alleged theft operation in Majengo Estate.
The recovery operation was initiated after officers received actionable intelligence regarding a suspected hideout where individuals were reportedly engaged in the illegal activity of burning copper wire to strip off its insulation. This method is commonly employed by thieves to extract valuable metal from the wire for resale, often leading to significant financial losses for utility companies and other businesses.
Upon arriving at the location, police discovered that the suspects had already fled, indicating a possible prior tip-off about the impending raid. However, law enforcement officials did not leave empty-handed. A thorough search of one of the houses associated with the suspects yielded a trove of items, including Administration Police uniforms. The uniforms recovered consisted of a beret, shirt, jungle jacket, trousers, and a maroon belt, raising concerns about the potential misuse of these items for impersonation or further criminal activities.
In addition to the uniforms, detectives also recovered essential tools and equipment that are typically used in the theft of copper wire. Among the items found were pliers, tin snips, solar equipment, and various lengths of copper wire, all of which suggest a well-organized operation aimed at stealing and selling valuable materials.
The investigation into this theft operation has since been taken over by detectives from Isinya, who are now actively pursuing leads to identify and apprehend the suspects involved. Their efforts are focused not only on bringing the perpetrators to justice but also on recovering more stolen property that may still be in circulation.
