Police have arrested eight suspected gang members during an intelligence-led operation targeting a criminal network accused of terrorising residents in the Mirema Springs area of Kasarani, Nairobi.
The operation was conducted on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, by officers from Kasarani Sub-County following reports of attacks in which suspected gang members allegedly used crude weapons to injure and rob members of the public.
In a statement, the National Police Service (NPS) said the operation was aimed at dismantling the criminal network and restoring security in the affected area.
The eight suspects, described by police as key members of the network, were arrested following intelligence gathered by officers ahead of the raid.
They were taken to Kasarani Police Station, where they remained in custody pending arraignment in court.
Police also recovered several crude weapons during the operation.
The weapons have been secured at the station as exhibits to support investigations into the reported criminal activities.
The National Police Service reiterated its commitment to protecting members of the public, warning that criminal gangs would not be allowed to operate in any part of the country.
The service also commended the cooperation between police officers and members of the community, noting that public support remains important in identifying and disrupting criminal networks.
The latest arrests form part of efforts by security agencies to address reported cases of robbery and violent attacks attributed to suspected gangs in residential areas.
Police urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest police station to help prevent crime and support ongoing security operations.
Members of the public can also share information through the National Police Service's emergency toll-free numbers, 999 and 911.
Additionally, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) receives anonymous crime reports through its toll-free line, 0800 722 203, under the Fichua Kwa DCI initiative.
Residents can also report information through WhatsApp on 0709 570 000.
The police service said it would continue conducting targeted operations against criminal networks as part of its wider efforts to enhance public safety and security.
