A boda boda rider has sustained serious injuries following a head-on collision involving a motorcycle and a public service vehicle (PSV) at Kasoiyo Junction along the Kabarnet–Tenges–Eldama Ravine road in Baringo County.

The accident occurred at Kasoiyo Corner Shop, an area described by locals as a notorious accident spot. The rider reportedly suffered a fracture to his left leg following the impact.

According to eyewitnesses, the collision was severe, with the rider reportedly thrown several metres from the point of impact. Luggage carried by the PSV was also scattered across the road.

Damaris Kurui, a shopkeeper in the area, said she heard a loud bang that prompted her to rush out of her shop to establish what had happened.

She said she was shocked to find the injured rider lying some distance away from the collision scene, while the vehicle and luggage showed signs of the force of the impact.

Good Samaritans at the scene reportedly rushed to the rider's aid and helped rescue him while he was unconscious. He was subsequently taken to Baringo County Referral Hospital for emergency medical attention.

The PSV, which was carrying passengers and luggage, was also involved in the emergency response, with the driver and passengers reportedly taken to the hospital following the collision. The extent of any injuries sustained by those on board had not been established by the time of reporting.

Police officers from Kabarnet Police Station arrived at the scene and launched investigations to establish the circumstances that led to the accident.

Authorities are expected to determine the cause of the head-on collision as part of their inquiries. Further details on the condition of the injured rider, the driver and the passengers were not immediately available.

The incident has renewed calls for caution among motorists and other road users travelling along the Kabarnet–Tenges–Eldama Ravine route, particularly at junctions and sections considered accident-prone.

Drivers have been urged to observe traffic regulations, maintain safe speeds and remain alert to other road users. Motorcycle riders have also been encouraged to exercise caution, especially when navigating busy roads and junctions.
