Confirming the arrest at his office, Kilifi North Sub-County police commander Stanley Tonui commended the residents for their cooperation and the pivotal role they played in the operation. "We received information from the public that there was a suspected drug trafficker in Mnarani named Pamela Atieno. Officers from the station then conducted a raid at her home and successfully recovered the bhang and cash," he stated. Commander Tonui emphasized the importance of community-policing collaboration, noting that such partnerships are vital in addressing drug-related crimes that pose a threat to societal well-being.

The police commander urged residents to continue reporting illegal activities, underscoring the devastating impact of drug trafficking on communities. "I encourage residents to report drug trafficking and other illegal activities to the police at any time. These crimes have devastating effects on society, and we must work together to eliminate them," he said. He further revealed that Mnarani, along with Mtondia and Chumani, have been identified as hotspots for drug trafficking within the county, indicating a need for heightened vigilance and action in these areas.

Community involvement in policing

Commander Tonui issued a stern warning to those involved in the illicit drug trade, assuring the public that law enforcement agencies are committed to bringing offenders to justice. "We have identified areas such as Mnarani, Mtondia, and Chumani as locations with high drug trafficking activity. I want to assure the people of Kilifi that we will arrest all those involved and ensure they face legal consequences," he warned. The authorities have vowed to intensify operations against drug traffickers in the region, aiming to uphold the rule of law and safeguard the community from the adverse effects of drug-related activities.
