A 20-year-old house help has been arrested in Naivasha following an alleged attempt to abduct her employer's three-year-old daughter. The arrest was confirmed by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), who have been actively involved in the case. The woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, had been employed by the child's parents approximately three weeks prior to the incident.
According to the DCI, the child's parents left for work early in the morning, entrusting their daughter to the care of the house help. However, upon returning home in the evening, they were alarmed to find both the child and the house help missing. A thorough search of the house revealed that some of the child's clothing, as well as the house help's personal belongings, were also gone. This discovery heightened the parents' fears, prompting them to seek assistance from their neighbours in an attempt to locate their missing daughter and the employee. Unfortunately, these efforts did not yield any information regarding their whereabouts.
Faced with the distressing situation, the parents reported the matter to the Narok Police Station. This report set off a series of investigative actions by detectives who immediately began tracking the house help's movements. Using technology to trace her mobile phone, the detectives were able to pinpoint her location in Naivasha, a town situated approximately 100 kilometers from Narok. The DCI coordinated with their counterparts in Naivasha, as well as local residents, to track down the suspect.
The collaborative effort culminated in the arrest of the house help at around 11pm. She was subsequently transported back to Narok Police Station, where she is being held pending further legal proceedings. The DCI has indicated that she is expected to appear in court the following day to face charges related to the incident, although the specific charges have not yet been disclosed.
The case has sparked concern among residents, highlighting the importance of trust and vigilance when employing domestic workers. As investigations continue, authorities are working to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the child's disappearance and the house help's journey from Narok to Naivasha.
