Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has called for faster implementation of immigration reforms to improve passport and other services for Kenyans and visitors.
Murkomen held a meeting with heads of departments at the Directorate of Immigration Services to review ongoing reforms and identify areas that need to be accelerated.
He was accompanied by Principal Secretary for Immigration and Citizen Services Dr Belio Kipsang and other senior government officials.
Murkomen said the Ministry will continue improving its systems and operations to make service delivery more efficient.
The CS also said that passport offices in Malindi and Nyeri are nearing completion.
Kenya currently has regional passport offices in Mombasa, Kisumu, Eldoret, Kericho, Embu, Bungoma, Kisii, Nakuru and Garissa.
Murkomen added that the National Employment Authority has established dedicated desks at Immigration offices in Nairobi to support the Kazi Majuu programme.
The government is also installing electronic gates at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to speed up the processing of travellers.
