The Ministry of Health has confirmed the first case of Ebola in Kenya, Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has announced.

The patient, a Kenyan citizen who had been living in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) for the past seven years, died last night.

According to CS Duale, the patient developed symptoms about a month ago and sought treatment at several hospitals while still in the DRC.

The patient later travelled by road from the DRC to Kampala, Uganda, before boarding a Jambojet flight to Nairobi, arriving on Saturday, October 3, 2026.

Health authorities are now tracing and monitoring people who may have come into contact with the patient as they assess the risk of further transmission.
