A middle-aged man has lost part of his ear after he was allegedly bitten by his elder brother during a family land dispute in Kyamavui Village, Mithumo, Mbooni East. The incident, which has left the victim seriously injured, highlights the escalating tensions surrounding family land ownership in the region.

The victim, identified as Nimrod Kilonzo, reported that the altercation occurred on Sunday morning while he was engaged in cutting down a tree on their father’s land. This land, which has been a source of conflict within the family, has reportedly been the subject of disputes for some time. Kilonzo claims that his elder brother confronted him during his work, leading to a violent confrontation.

According to Kilonzo, the confrontation escalated quickly, resulting in his brother biting his ear. The injury was severe enough to cause a significant loss of tissue, and Kilonzo has since expressed his distress over the incident. "I never expected my own brother to attack me like this. It’s devastating to think that a family dispute could lead to such violence," he stated.

Following the incident, Kilonzo sought medical attention for his injury and reported the matter to the Mbumbuni Police Station. However, he claims that despite filing a report, no arrest has been made in connection with the attack. This lack of action from law enforcement has left him feeling vulnerable and anxious about his safety.

Kilonzo has voiced his concerns about living in fear, stating, "I am now afraid for my life. My brother is still out there, and I don’t know what he might do next." He has called on the police to intervene more decisively in the matter, urging them to take the necessary steps to ensure his safety and hold his brother accountable for the alleged assault.

The incident has drawn attention to the broader issue of land disputes in Mbooni East, where conflicts over inheritance and ownership can often lead to violent confrontations. Local authorities and community leaders are being urged to address these disputes proactively to prevent further escalation and ensure the safety of all family members involved.

As the situation develops, it remains to be seen how law enforcement will respond to Kilonzo’s plea for protection and justice. The community is watching closely, as this incident underscores the urgent need for conflict resolution mechanisms in familial disputes over land.
