In a show of political solidarity, the Luhya community residing in Kwale County has declared its unwavering support for ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi. This comes amidst speculations of internal strife within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), where Mudavadi has been a long-standing ally and supporter of Raila Odinga. The community, led by their chair Josephat Mudangale, has voiced strong opposition to any attempts by ODM to undermine Mudavadi's leadership.

Mudangale expressed his disappointment over the alleged plots to oust Mudavadi, emphasizing the leader's loyalty and contributions to ODM over the years. He specifically criticized Godfrey Otsotsi, a former member of the ANC, for his remarks against Mudavadi. “We are against Godfrey Otsotsi’s remarks. We do not want to hear anything about him because he nominated his wife, mother-in-law, and himself. He lacks moral values to speak about Mudavadi,” Mudangale stated. Otsotsi was expelled from the ANC in 2018 due to allegations of fund misuse, which further fuels the community's disdain for his comments.

Adding to the chorus of support, Joseph Siai, another community leader, highlighted Mudavadi's pivotal role in representing the Mulembe nation. He accused certain factions, which he referred to as cartels, of attempting to tarnish Mudavadi's reputation within the ANC. “We are behind Mudavadi and we will follow him wherever he will go. We won’t allow those who are out to destroy the ANC party,” Siai asserted.

Reverend Fred Ndiasi, representing the ANC churches in Kwale, reinforced the sentiment by noting Mudavadi's widespread support across the country. He confirmed that the ANC would actively participate in the upcoming Msambweni by-election, underscoring the community's commitment to bolstering Mudavadi’s leadership. “We will not allow anyone out to destroy our party and its leadership,” Ndiasi affirmed.

Further echoing this support, Kwale Youths Representative Judith Kabala pledged the youth's allegiance to Mudavadi. She vowed to confront any opposition against the ANC party and its leaders, emphasizing the community's resolve to protect their political interests.

The declarations from Kwale County underscore the deep-rooted loyalty and support for Musalia Mudavadi within the Luhya community, highlighting the intricate dynamics of Kenyan political alliances and the enduring influence of regional leaders in shaping the national political landscape.
