The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced the temporary partial closure of a section of Waiyaki Way (A8 Road) between Kempinski and the Museum Hill Interchange.

The closure will affect motorists using the Mombasa-bound lanes and will run from Thursday, October 8, 2026, to Saturday, November 7, 2026.

According to a public notice issued by KeNHA, the closure will allow the authority to carry out highway maintenance works on the affected section of the road.

Motorists using Waiyaki Way during the period have been advised to use the sections of the road that will remain open. They have also been encouraged to consider alternative routes to avoid delays and traffic congestion.

KeNHA said the temporary closure is part of measures to facilitate the maintenance works while ensuring traffic continues to move through the area.

Motorists have also been advised to follow the proposed traffic management plan during the maintenance period.

KeNHA urged drivers to cooperate with police officers and traffic marshals who will be deployed at the site to guide motorists and manage traffic flow.

The authority said normal traffic operations on the affected section of Waiyaki Way will resume once the maintenance works are completed.

Motorists planning to use the route between October 8 and November 7 are therefore advised to plan their journeys in advance, allow extra travel time and consider alternative routes where necessary.

KeNHA issued the notice on October 1, 2026, as part of its communication to the public ahead of the planned works.
