The High Court has temporarily stopped the implementation of Gazette Notice No. 10421, which provides for the election of members of the National Youth Council.

Justice F.N. Kyambia issued conservatory orders staying the implementation of the Gazette Notice as it relates to the National Youth Council elections.

The orders will remain in place pending the hearing of the application and the main petition filed before the court.

“Pending the inter partes hearing of this application, a conservatory order do issue staying/halting the implementation of Gazette Notice No. 10421 issued by the Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, in so far as it applies to the elections of Council Members of the National Youth Council,” the court ordered.

The court further directed that the implementation of the Gazette Notice remain suspended pending the hearing and determination of the petition.

The decision effectively puts the National Youth Council election process on hold until the court gives further directions.

The matter has been listed for directions on the hearing of the main petition, where the court will consider the issues raised in the case.

The Gazette Notice will therefore remain suspended, in so far as it concerns the National Youth Council elections, until the court makes further orders or determines the petition.
