Five people have been killed and several others seriously injured in a grisly road accident near Choma Choma Zone along the Kisii CBD–Daraja Mbili road.
The accident occurred after a lorry reportedly lost its brakes and rammed into several vehicles, motorcycles and pedestrians.
Eyewitnesses also alleged that the same lorry had earlier knocked down a motorcycle rider and his pillion passenger near Gusii Plaza before fleeing the scene.
Residents say the area has become an accident hotspot and are calling on authorities to take urgent measures to improve road safety.
They are also appealing to the relevant authorities to consider restricting heavy trucks from passing through Kisii Central Business District to help prevent similar accidents.
