The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has addressed concerns surrounding outstanding payments and the work permit status of Harambee Stars head coach Benni McCarthy and some members of his technical team.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, FKF said the Ministry of Sports had confirmed that an outstanding payment relating to a previous Harambee Stars assignment had been cleared and was expected to reflect by Thursday.
The federation, however, acknowledged that other payments relating to national team preparations and allowances remained at different stages of processing.
FKF said it was in regular communication with the Ministry of Sports and relevant offices to ensure the outstanding matters were resolved.
On the work permits, FKF confirmed that it was aware of concerns surrounding the documentation of Coach Benni McCarthy and some members of his technical team.
The federation said it was working with relevant government agencies to process the required documentation, adding that the process was ongoing.
FKF further clarified that McCarthy and members of the technical bench had travelled in and out of Kenya with the national team for international assignments.
It described the work permit process as an administrative matter being handled with the relevant authorities.
The federation also noted that the technical team's responsibilities extend beyond national team camps to include monitoring domestic matches and players across the country.
FKF said it remains focused on supporting Harambee Stars as the team prepares for its upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying assignments.
The federation added that it was engaging players, the technical team and the Ministry of Sports as outstanding issues are addressed.
The football governing body expressed appreciation for the Ministry of Sports' support and said it would continue working with all stakeholders to ensure the national team's preparations remain on course.
