Jobe Bellingham has earned his first senior England call-up, joining older brother Jude in Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the Three Lions’ final UEFA Nations League group-stage matches against Croatia and Spain.
The Borussia Dortmund midfielder is among two players receiving their maiden senior call-ups, alongside Fulham’s Josh King, after being rewarded for his performances at club level.
Jobe, 21, has impressed since joining Dortmund from Sunderland in the summer of 2025, establishing himself in the German side’s midfield under head coach Niko Kovač.
He has started six of Dortmund’s eight Bundesliga matches this season, helping the club register five victories and three draws to remain level on points with defending champions Bayern Munich at the top of the standings.
His performances have strengthened his case for a place in the senior national team after progressing through England’s youth ranks, having represented the country from under-15 to under-21 level.
He also captained England’s under-21 side, helping the Young Lions secure qualification for the 2027 European Under-21 Championship.
Tuchel revealed that England under-21 coach Lee Carsley had consistently recommended the midfielder for promotion to the senior team before the latest squad selection.
“Lee Carsley has been talking highly about Jobe for weeks and months; that he deserves, if there is a spot, to make an impression in the first team. He had good matches for Dortmund. He deserves to be with us,” Tuchel said.
Jobe’s selection places him alongside Jude, who has established himself as one of England’s key midfielders since making his senior debut in November 2020.
The 23-year-old Real Madrid midfielder has been a regular for the Three Lions, featuring prominently in their recent international campaigns.
The brothers could now have an opportunity to represent England together at senior level, although their selection does not guarantee they will feature in the same match.
Jobe has also followed a similar career path to his older brother, who played for Dortmund between 2020 and 2023 before moving to Real Madrid. The younger midfielder joined the Bundesliga club from Sunderland, where he had developed into one of the Championship’s standout young players.
England will host Croatia at Wembley Stadium on Thursday, November 12, before travelling to Madrid to face Spain on Sunday, November 15.
Tuchel’s side currently sit second in their Nations League group and need to avoid defeat against Croatia to secure a place in next year’s quarter-finals. Winning both remaining fixtures, alongside a superior goal difference to Spain, would give them the opportunity to finish top.
For Jobe, the upcoming international window presents an opportunity to make his senior debut and begin a new chapter in his international career alongside a brother who has already established himself in the England setup.
