All 2018 KCPE candidates from Ruruma Ward who have been admitted to national schools will receive full sponsorship from the ward's scholarship fund to ensure they can pursue their studies without interruption. This announcement was made by the area Member of County Assembly (MCA), Jana Tsuma Jana, during a gathering at Kawala Primary School. The MCA emphasized that while the scholarship fund would cover tuition and other essential educational expenses, parents would still be responsible for covering travel costs, school uniforms, and other personal amenities required by individual schools.

Mr. Jana also highlighted the broader scope of the Ruruma scholarship fund, which aims to provide partial assistance to all other secondary school students, as well as those attending universities and tertiary colleges. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance educational opportunities and support for young people in the ward, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder their academic progress.

During his address, the MCA also addressed concerns regarding delays in the implementation of development projects within the ward. He attributed these delays to new regulations in the tendering process, which have slowed down the commencement of various initiatives. However, he reassured residents that once the tendering process is finalized, the proposed projects would be implemented without further delay.

One of the key priorities for the Ruruma Ward Development Fund for the 2018/19 financial year is to tackle the persistent water shortage in the area. Mr. Jana announced that funds have been allocated for the construction of a new pipeline that will run from Mwakizango Bridge to Mulefi Primary School, covering key areas such as Kombeni Jimba Masaani, Kombeni Bofu Kawala lines, and Mkapuni Dzanikeni lines. This project aims to provide a sustainable solution to the water scarcity issues that have long plagued the community.

In addition to Mr. Jana's remarks, Mr. Philip Mbaji Kaulu, a member of the Communications Council of Kenya, addressed the gathering. He urged the county leadership to seek additional funding to support students, noting that the current allocation for bursaries was insufficient to meet the needs of all deserving students. Mr. Kaulu also encouraged students to set clear goals and strive diligently to achieve them, emphasizing that determination and focus are key to success in life.
