The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a temporary partial closure of a section of Waiyaki Way (A8 Road) to allow for highway maintenance works.
The affected section is on the Mombasa-bound lanes between Kempinski and the Museum Hill Interchange.
According to a public notice issued by KeNHA Director General Eng. Luka Kimeli, the partial closure will take effect from Thursday, October 8, 2026, and run until Saturday, November 7, 2026.
The authority said the closure is necessary to facilitate maintenance works along the affected section of the busy Nairobi road.
Motorists advised to use alternative routes
KeNHA has advised motorists using Waiyaki Way during the maintenance period to use the sections of the road that remain open and consider alternative routes to minimise traffic disruption.
Motorists have also been urged to follow the proposed traffic management plan and cooperate with police officers and traffic marshals deployed to the area.
“Normal traffic operations on the road will be restored upon completion of the works,” KeNHA said in the notice.
The closure is expected to affect traffic movement along one of Nairobi’s key transport corridors, particularly during peak hours.
Motorists travelling towards the city centre through the affected section have been encouraged to plan their journeys in advance and allow additional travel time during the maintenance period.
