The University of Eldoret has condemned what it describes as “unfortunate and unacceptable” utterances allegedly made by one of its part-time lecturers during a class session.
In a statement, the university said the incident occurred on September 24, 2026, while the lecturer was teaching SHUM 211: State and Society Development at ED5.
The institution distanced itself from the remarks, saying they do not represent, reflect or in any way constitute the official position or views of the University of Eldoret.
The university said it upholds high standards of professionalism, academic integrity, respect, inclusivity and responsible conduct among its staff.
It added that all members of staff, including part-time lecturers, are required to adhere to university policies, applicable laws and professional standards.
According to the statement, the university has initiated immediate and appropriate disciplinary action against the lecturer in accordance with its policies, regulations and principles of due process.
“The University will not hesitate to take all necessary measures where the conduct of any member of staff is found to be inconsistent with these standards,” the institution said.
The University of Eldoret further assured students, staff, partners and the public of its commitment to the rule of law, institutional accountability, academic professionalism, equality and non-discrimination.
It also reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the dignity, rights, safety and welfare of members of its university community.
