Two middle-aged men have been killed in separate incidents in Kitui Central Sub-County, Kitui County.
In the first incident, a man was shot dead by a police officer in Mutune after an altercation between the two.
According to a witness who was at the scene, the deceased allegedly attempted to disarm the officer before he was shot.
In the second incident, a man suspected of stealing chickens was killed by a mob after he was allegedly found with eight stolen chickens in Kwa Ngindu, near Kitui town.
The second incident occurred on Friday morning.
Kitui Central Sub-County police commander Peter Karanja confirmed the two incidents.
The bodies of the two men have been taken to the mortuary at Kitui Level 4 Hospital as investigations into the incidents continue.
