Tributes have continued to pour in following the death of Amal Mghoi Mungatana, the eight-year-old daughter of Tana River Senator Danson Mungatana and Deputy Government Spokesperson Mwanaisha Chidzuga.

Amal died on Sunday, September 13, 2026, while undergoing treatment at Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital in Muthaiga, Nairobi, after years of battling health complications.

Ruto said he joined the family, friends and all those who knew Amal in mourning a young life taken “far too soon.”

He prayed that God would grant the family strength, comfort and peace, and that Amal’s soul would rest in eternal peace.

Karua described Amal’s passing as an untimely loss and joined the family and friends in mourning the young girl.

She prayed for God’s strength, comfort and peace for the bereaved family.

According to the family death announcement, Amal had struggled with her health since birth and had received treatment both in Kenya and abroad.

The family said they remained grateful for the joy and love Amal brought to them, particularly whenever her health improved.

The family has gathered at their home in Ngao Village, Tana River County, as funeral arrangements continue.

Amal will be laid to rest on Friday, September 18, 2026, in Ngao Village.

“We loved her but God loved her more,” the family said.
