The Ministry of Health has extended the deadline for healthcare facilities to migrate from the SHA Provider Portal to Digital Health Agency (DHA)-certified Health Management Information Systems (HMIS) to November 30, 2026.
The extension, announced in a joint notice by the Social Health Authority (SHA) and the Digital Health Agency (DHA) dated October 30, follows requests from healthcare providers and progress made in the transition over the past month.
The additional month is intended to give facilities that have not completed the migration sufficient time to finalise the process and ensure a smooth transition to the approved digital health systems.
According to the notice, all healthcare providers are required to complete the migration within the extended period, with access to the SHA Provider Portal set to be deactivated effective November 30, 2026.
SHA and DHA warned that facilities that fail to transition within the stipulated timeframe risk losing access to the portal, potentially disrupting service verification, pre-authorisation, and claims submission and processing.
The two agencies said significant progress had been recorded across various categories of healthcare facilities, with all 6,427 public Level 2–4 facilities having successfully migrated, representing 100 per cent completion.
For public Level 5 facilities, 22 out of 28 had completed the transition, translating to 79 per cent, while 190 out of 518 faith-based organisation facilities had migrated, representing 37 per cent.
A total of 371 private facilities had also successfully transitioned to the approved HMIS platforms.
The agencies said the achievements marked an important milestone in Kenya's digital health transformation agenda, aimed at establishing a more integrated, efficient, accountable and reliable healthcare ecosystem.
The Digital Health Agency has pledged continued technical support to facilities still undertaking the migration, including HMIS onboarding, system integration, troubleshooting, user guidance and capacity building.
DHA will also coordinate with HMIS vendors to address outstanding implementation challenges.
Healthcare facilities requiring assistance have been advised to contact the agency through helpdesk@dha.go.ke or the toll-free support line 147.
Facilities seeking technical assistance are required to provide their names, contact persons' details and a brief description of the challenges encountered.
SHA and DHA have further assured healthcare providers that claims already submitted through the SHA Provider Portal will continue to be processed in accordance with applicable requirements.
The agencies urged facilities yet to complete the migration to take advantage of the extended period, warning that November 30 would be the final transition deadline.
