Severe traffic congestion has continued along the Nairobi–Mombasa Highway for more than eight hours following an accident reported last night.
The traffic snarl has stretched from Malili to Machakos Junction, with another long queue extending from Athi River beyond Machakos Junction.
Motorists using the Nairobi–Mombasa corridor are urged to expect delays and allow extra time for their journeys as efforts to clear the affected sections continue.
Drivers have also been advised to remain patient and, where possible, use alternative routes to avoid the worst-affected areas.
Motorists making non-essential trips through the affected sections have been encouraged to delay their journeys until traffic flow improves.
