Riara University has launched an internal review into an alleged student assault involving several female students captured in a viral video.

The video, circulating online, shows a group of ladies threatening and assaulting another lady in what appears to be a public bathroom.

The disturbing footage has raised significant concerns among students, parents, and the wider community regarding the safety and well-being of individuals on campus.

In a press statement, the university confirmed that some individuals depicted in the video are reportedly its students.

The institution has initiated investigations in line with its Student Code of Conduct and institutional policies.

The university condemned the alleged incident, stating that it does not tolerate violence, intimidation, bullying, harassment, or misconduct in any form.

“While the alleged event occurred off-campus, such behaviour directly contradicts our institutional values and our code of conduct for students,” the university said.

The seriousness of the allegations has prompted the university to take a firm stance against any form of violence, emphasizing that such actions are not representative of the community they strive to cultivate.

Riara University further pledged to cooperate with investigative authorities as efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident continue.

The university leadership emphasized its commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful, and responsible academic community, stating that conduct inconsistent with its values would not be condoned.

The statement was issued by the Vice-Chancellor as the video continued to circulate online, drawing attention to the alleged incident involving the women.
