The Registrar of Political Parties has approved the reservation of the Linda Mwananchi Movement (LMM) name, giving the political outfit 90 days to proceed with the next stage of its registration process.

In a letter dated October 1, 2026, Registrar of Political Parties and CEO John Cox Lorionokou informed Bansbury Associates Advocates that the application had been approved under Section 4B of the Political Parties Act.

The Registrar cited the judgment in PPDTA/E001/2026, Michael Caroli Omondi & Another vs Registrar of Political Parties, alongside Section 8 of the Political Parties Act, in approving the reservation.

The letter says the name Linda Mwananchi Movement will be reserved for a period not exceeding 90 days from the date of the letter.

The development has been welcomed by supporters of the movement.

In a post on X, social media strategist Pauline Njoroge said the outfit's supporters had fought for the name.

“We have our name! LINDA MWANANCHI MOVEMENT (LMM),” Njoroge said.

Bumula MP Wanami Wamboka, who has been associated with the movement, also posted a message emphasising unity, saying:“The rule of law. One Party, One Leader, One Movement. We will EMPTY him.”

The approval comes as Linda Mwananchi continues to position itself as a political movement ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Recent reports have, however, highlighted disagreements among leaders over the movement's political structure and the party through which it should contest the election.
