Police will conduct a thorough investigation into the violence witnessed during Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki’s meeting in Embu County over the weekend, in which two people died.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli has condemned the incident, warning youths against allowing themselves to be used by politicians to perpetrate violence.

Masengeli said those who participate in such acts will bear personal responsibility for their actions.

He cited the burning of a vehicle during the Embu incident, saying the owner had acquired it through a loan and had driven it to the ceremony just two days after purchasing it.

The Deputy Inspector General also assured Kenyans that police will maintain security without bias during the political campaigns ahead of next year’s General Election.
