The National Youth Council has closed voter registration for its upcoming elections, with a total of 207,451 youths registered as of September 30, 2026.

Nairobi County recorded the highest number of registered voters at 16,741, while Taita Taveta had the lowest with 734 voters.

The council said 5,797 candidates have expressed interest in contesting for about 8,700 ward delegate positions, with 1,736 candidates receiving at least 50 nominations.

However, 88 wards have no candidates.

Following the closure of registration and nominations, the council will begin verifying candidates’ documents before publishing the list of duly nominated candidates in line with Regulation 28 of the National Youth Council Elections Regulations.

Only registered voters will be allowed to participate in the ward, constituency and National Youth Congress elections.

The council said no further voter registrations will be accepted after the September 30 deadline.
