Activist Boniface Mulinge Muteti, who was reported missing after his alleged arrest during protests in Nairobi, has been found alive in Mlolongo, Machakos County.
Muteti was reportedly found dumped in the area and rushed to a nearby hospital in Athi River for medical attention.
His whereabouts had prompted a petition at the Milimani Law Courts seeking orders compelling Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and Director of Criminal Investigations Mohammed Amin to account for his whereabouts.
The petition, filed by Francis Awino, stated that Muteti had allegedly been arrested on September 21 during demonstrations over the continued detention of Ugandan opposition leader Kizza Besigye.
The petitioner had sought urgent court intervention to establish whether Muteti was in custody and compel authorities to produce him before the court.
The latest update on his discovery comes as the circumstances surrounding his alleged disappearance and the events leading to his recovery remain unclear.
