A 23-year-old man who had been missing for three days was found dead in a water pond in Kanjogu, Shamata Ward, Nyandarua County.

The body was found with injuries, leaving the family demanding a thorough investigation into his death.

The discovery has left residents of Kanjogu village in shock, with the body reportedly emitting a strong smell when it was recovered from the pond.

According to Shamata Ward Member of County Assembly Reuben Gitau, the man had disappeared three days before his body was found.

Gitau said efforts to trace him led residents to a private water pond where his shoes were discovered near the water.

“He had been missing for three days and after searching for him, his shoes were found near a private water pond,” Gitau said."

The residents then brought in divers to search the pond where they eventually recovered the man's body from inside the water.

The body was reportedly found with injuries, raising questions over how the man died and ended up inside the pond.

The family has rejected the possibility that the man simply drowned and believes he may have been attacked before his body was dumped in the pond and are now calling for a thorough investigation to establish what happened to their relative and determine whether other people were involved in his death.

His body was taken to the mortuary at JM Memorial Hospital for preservation and further examination.

Police in Nyandarua are expected to investigate the injuries found on the body and establish how the deceased ended up in the pond.
