An unidentified middle-aged man was lynched and his body dumped near the Scooby area in Masosa, Jogoo Location, Kitutu Central Sub-County, Kisii County.
According to eyewitnesses, the man had boarded a boda boda from Kisii town, reportedly heading to Nyankongo, when the incident occurred.
Witnesses said that upon reaching the Scooby area, the man allegedly attempted to rob the motorcycle rider, prompting the rider to raise an alarm.
Members of the public reportedly responded, apprehended the man and assaulted him before dumping his body in the area.
The incident has sparked concern among residents, who condemned the killing and urged members of the public to avoid taking the law into their own hands.
Residents also called on young people to pursue lawful means of earning a living and urged anyone with information on the incident to assist the authorities.
The deceased’s body was later moved to the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary as police commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the killing.
