A man captured on video assaulting a woman in Kamakis, Ruiru Sub-County, has been detained for 14 days to allow police to complete investigations into the incident.
Isaac Gatuthu Ochalo was arrested a day before his arraignment and charged with assault causing bodily harm. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Ruiru Police Commander Charles Kibathi said the court granted detectives 14 days to hold the suspect for further investigation and interrogation.
Ochalo will be held at Gatong’ora Police Station during the period.
According to a police report, Teresia Wambui Wairimu, a resident of Thika Town, was assaulted on Sunday evening while visiting her cousin in Kamakis.
Wairimu told police that she arrived at her cousin’s home at around 6pm, where her cousin’s husband, identified as Isaac Gatuthu Ochalo, allegedly assaulted her.
