A senior police officer in Kakamega County is under investigation over allegations of defiling a 16-year-old girl at Kambi Moto area in Lugari Sub-County.

According to a police report filed at Lumakanda Police Station, the incident was reported on Sunday, September 27, 2026, after the girl’s parents allegedly found the officer inside their house in suspicious circumstances.

The report states that the officer, identified as Lumakanda OCS Chief Inspector Wycliff Kwendo, had earlier contacted the girl’s mother, Linet Minayo, claiming that a multi-agency team was planning a raid in the area and advising the family not to spend the night at their home.

The officer allegedly told the couple that he had parked his private vehicle along the highway and offered to take them to White House Bar.

The couple reportedly accompanied him to the bar, where the officer dropped them off and said he would return at about 5am to pick them up.

However, according to the report, Minayo became suspicious and convinced her husband, Sammy Wanjala alias Arafat, to return home.

Upon arrival, they allegedly found the house locked, with their 16-year-old daughter inside. After asking her to open the door, they allegedly found the OCS inside the house with his shorts unbuttoned and carrying his shoes.

The parents reportedly confronted the officer, who allegedly asked them not to escalate the matter and proposed that they reach an understanding.

The mother allegedly found a used condom and another unopened condom on a table. The report further alleges that the officer threatened her with a firearm and demanded that she surrender the condoms.

He also allegedly took the phones belonging to the couple before leaving the house.

According to the report, the officer allegedly left the woman with Sh20,000 and asked her not to disclose the incident.

The girl was later reportedly found behind the house on old iron sheets and the matter was reported at Lumakanda Police Station.

Police officers, including Chekalini OCS, the Deputy OCS Lumakanda and a D/DCIO officer, visited the scene.

The minor was taken to Lumakanda Sub-County Hospital for medical attention.

The case is being treated as pending under investigation, with detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in Lugari handling the matter.
