Grade Six and Grade Nine learners are scheduled to sit science and language papers on Tuesday, October 27, as the 2026 national assessments enter their second day.

According to timetables bearing the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) branding, Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) candidates will begin with Integrated Science, while Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) candidates start with Kiswahili Lugha.

For Grade Six learners, the Integrated Science paper is scheduled to run from 8:30 a.m. to 10:10 a.m., followed by a break before the Kiswahili paper, which is set for 11:10 a.m. to 12:10 p.m.

Grade Nine candidates will sit Kiswahili Lugha from 8:30 a.m. to 10:10 a.m. After a 30-minute break, they will proceed to Kiswahili Insha na Utangulizi wa Fasihi, scheduled from 11:10 a.m. to 12:55 p.m.

The timetables also provide for candidates using large-print and Braille examination papers, as well as those sitting Kenyan Sign Language papers, with special arrangements and timings for different categories of learners.

The assessments began on Monday after Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba presided over the official opening of a container holding examination materials at the Deputy County Commissioner's office in Makindu, Makueni County.

More than 2.4 million learners are expected to take part in the national assessments across the country.

According to KNEC, 1,298,089 Grade Six learners are registered for KPSEA, while 1,130,669 Grade Nine learners are expected to sit KJSEA.

The examinations will run for five days, with examination sessions scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. each day.

During the launch, Ogamba cautioned parents, candidates and members of the public against individuals claiming to have early access to examination papers or offering to facilitate cheating.

The Education Cabinet Secretary urged the public to disregard such claims and avoid falling victim to fraudsters seeking to exploit candidates and their families during the examination period.

Schools and candidates have been advised to confirm examination schedules through official KNEC communication channels, as the timetables circulating online had not been confirmed on the council's active timetables page at the time of reporting.
