Kenya Power has announced planned power interruptions in parts of Nairobi, Uasin Gishu and Kirinyaga counties on Sunday, October 11, 2026.

In a statement, Kenya Power says this will help facilitate scheduled maintenance of the electricity network in the affected areas.

The utility has listed several areas expected to experience outages, with interruptions scheduled to last between eight and nine hours, depending on the location.

In Nairobi, the maintenance will affect parts of Mombasa Road from 8am to 5pm. Areas listed include Alpha Centre, REREC offices, Nice & Lovely, Manchester Knit, Viraj Complex, Crown Health and Auto Express.

The interruption will also affect Total Petrol Station opposite Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and adjacent customers.

In the North Rift region, parts of Uasin Gishu County will experience a power interruption from 9am to 5pm. The affected areas include Lumama, Mugumu Primary, Manyonyi, Malaika, Marakusi and Makutano Market, as well as neighbouring customers.

Meanwhile, in the Mt Kenya region, parts of Kirinyaga County will be without electricity from 8am to 5pm.

The affected areas include Gathigiriri and Karira, with the interruption extending to Lainisha, Budget, Stadium, MRM, NIB, Airstrip, Mwanikis Residence and Gathigiriri Prison.

Other areas listed include Mwithuini, Joseph Muthike, Kiamanyeki Mwea Mosque, Karira Hospital, Nguka, Ndorome, Marura, Kangiciri, Gakungu, Nice Borehole and Topgrade Millers, alongside adjacent customers.

Kenya Power has advised customers in the affected areas to plan their activities around the scheduled interruptions. Residents and businesses that rely on electricity are encouraged to make the necessary arrangements to minimise disruptions to their daily operations.

The utility regularly schedules maintenance interruptions to allow for work on electricity infrastructure and improve the reliability of power supply.

Customers in the listed areas are advised to take note of the specified dates and times as they prepare for Sunday's planned maintenance by the utility company.
