The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has officially announced the resumption of Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) and the commencement of Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) in Ol-Kalou Constituency, located in Nyandarua County. This initiative is part of the IEBC's ongoing efforts to ensure that all eligible citizens have the opportunity to participate in the electoral process.
Registration period and details
The enhanced registration exercise is set to run from Monday, September 21 to Tuesday, October 20, 2026. This extended period allows ample time for eligible voters to register or update their details, ensuring a comprehensive and accurate voter roll ahead of the upcoming elections.
During the ECVR period, the IEBC has made it clear that registration services will be available daily, from Monday to Sunday. This decision reflects the commission's commitment to making the registration process as accessible as possible for all eligible voters in the constituency.
Locations for voter registration
The exercise will be conducted at various locations to maximize accessibility. Registration will take place at County Assembly Ward levels, Constituency Offices, Huduma Centres, and institutions of higher learning within the specified electoral areas. Additionally, voters can also register at the Commission’s Customer Experience Centre, which is located on the ground floor of Anniversary Towers in Nairobi. This wide range of locations is designed to cater to the diverse population of Ol-Kalou Constituency, ensuring that no eligible citizen is left out of the electoral process.
Eligible Kenyan citizens, specifically those aged 18 years and above, are encouraged to participate in this registration exercise. To register, individuals must possess a valid national identity card or a Kenyan passport. This requirement is in place to verify the identity of the registrants and maintain the integrity of the voter registration process.
Additional registration options
In addition to registering to vote, citizens will also have the opportunity to transfer their registration, update or correct their voter details, and verify their registration status during the ECVR period. This flexibility is crucial for individuals who may have changed their residence or personal information since their last registration.
Once the ECVR exercise concludes on October 20, 2026, the IEBC will continue with regular Continuous Voter Registration and revision of the Register of Voters at the Ol-Kalou Constituency Office. This will take place from Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays, during the hours of 8 am to 5 pm.
