Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba on Thursday, October 29, 2026, monitored the administration of the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) in Bomet County as the nationwide exercise entered its final day.

Ogamba began his visit at the Sotik Sub-County Deputy County Commissioner’s Office, where he witnessed the opening of an examination container and the distribution of assessment materials ahead of their administration.

The exercise was conducted under the supervision of officials involved in coordinating the assessments, with the Cabinet Secretary observing the process before proceeding to Sotik Comprehensive School.

At the school, Ogamba monitored the administration of the assessments as learners completed the exercise, which was being conducted across the country.

The visit formed part of ongoing government efforts to oversee national assessments and ensure that the process runs smoothly in learning institutions.

In a statement shared after the visit, Ogamba said multi-agency teams drawn from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Interior and National Administration were continuing to work together to support the administration of the assessments.

He noted that the teams had maintained their cooperation to ensure the exercise was conducted in a smooth, secure and orderly manner.

The involvement of both ministries is aimed at supporting the logistical and security arrangements surrounding the distribution and administration of assessment materials.

The opening of examination containers and distribution of materials are key stages in the assessment process, requiring coordination among education officials and national administration officers to ensure materials reach the designated centres.

Ogamba’s visit to Sotik provided an opportunity to observe these arrangements at the sub-county level and assess how the assessments were being administered at a learning institution.

He said the multi-agency approach would remain in place as the KJSEA assessments concluded, with teams continuing to work together across the country.

The conclusion of the assessments marked the end of an important exercise for learners, schools and education officials involved in the junior school assessment process.

The government has continued to emphasise coordination among the relevant agencies in overseeing national assessments, particularly in the handling and distribution of examination materials.

Ogamba’s visit to Bomet was part of monitoring activities conducted as the country brought the KJSEA exercise to a close.
