West Pokot County Assembly Speaker Fredrick Kaptui Plimo has been summoned to appear in court on November 5, 2026, to take a plea in a case involving the alleged loss of Ksh260 million from Eco-Pillar Sacco Society Limited.

Plimo is among nine people accused of conspiring to defraud the savings and credit cooperative of Ksh260,008,100 through a series of alleged financial irregularities spanning seven years.

The court issued summons requiring Plimo and two other accused persons, Paul Lokitari Ywapamoi and Francis Atodosia, to appear for plea-taking after they failed to attend the proceedings.

The three were warned that warrants of arrest could be issued against them if they fail to comply with the court orders and appear on the scheduled date.

Meanwhile, six other accused persons who appeared in court were charged with various offences linked to the alleged fraud. They denied the charges.

The nine accused persons are alleged to have worked together between 2018 and 2025 to unlawfully obtain money belonging to Eco-Pillar Sacco through the manipulation of financial transaction systems, creation of fraudulent accounts and processing of fictitious loans.

The prosecution also alleges that funds were transferred from the Sacco’s accounts to personal bank accounts without proper authorisation.

Those named in the case are Plimo, Linus Lokira, Ywapamoi, Leonard Pchakas an Domoita, Nicholas Toroitich Arusho, Andrew Poriot Lorema, Susan Chesang, Florence Chemotwo and Atodosia.

The accused include individuals who previously held senior positions within the Sacco, among them former chief executive officers, finance officers and information and communication technology officers.

Their alleged involvement is expected to be examined as the case progresses, with the prosecution seeking to establish how the Sacco’s financial systems were allegedly manipulated and how the money was moved.

The charges against the accused include conspiracy to defraud, stealing by servant, cheating, unauthorised interference with a computer system and abuse of office.

The six individuals who attended court pleaded not guilty to the charges, setting the stage for the hearing of the case.

The court directed that a ruling on their bond terms be delivered on November 2, 2026. They were remanded in custody pending the determination of the bond applications.

The prosecution was led by Senior Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions Patrick Okango, assisted by Faith Koech, Jairus Onkoba, Stephene Mokaya, Gregory Suter, Victor Mamati and Clinton Kere.

The case is expected to return to court as the accused persons continue to respond to the charges and the court considers the applications before it.

The alleged loss of Ksh260 million makes the matter one of the major financial fraud cases involving a cooperative society, with the proceedings expected to shed light on the alleged transactions and the roles attributed to the accused.
